The Intel® JTAG Debugger included with Intel® System Studio 2014 Update 2 (http://intel.ly/system-studio) in it's latest version now supports Linux* (64bit x86_64 Linux* systems running Ubuntu* 12.04, 13.04 or Fedora* 17, 18) host targeting:

  • Intel® Atom™ Processor C2xxx
  • Intel® Quark™ SoC X1000
  • Intel® Atom™ Processor E38xx, Z3680, Z37xx
  • 3rd and 4th generation Intel® Core™ and Intel® Xeon™ processor

The software package dependencies are

  • Mono Runtime 2.10.8 or higher (more information at http://www.mono-project.com)
  • The following packages are required:
    • Ubuntu*: mono-complete
    • Fedora*: mono-basic, mono-core, mono-data-mono-extras, mono-locale-extras
  • libusb 0.1.12 or higher
  • fxload 0.0.20020411 or higher

The Intel® ITP-XDP BR3 device can be ordered through https://designintools.intel.com/.

  • Select the Debug Toolsproduct category and add ITP-XDP BR3 to your cart.

Other new features  on Linux* host include:

  • Execution Trace using Intel® Processor Trace (Intel® PT) and Real-Time Instruction Trace (RTIT)

The Intel® JTAG Debugger now supports execution trace using two new hardware capabilities, Intel PT and RTIT.
These new hardware capabilities give the user increased trace depth overprevious technologies, with little to no impact on target execution speed.

Support for these capabilities is limited to specific processors and/or platforms, for more information please contact customer support.

  • Support of BIOS flashing for 4th generation Intel® Core™ processor
  • Support for 3rd generation Intel® Core™ processor target
