The first board that was developed on the basis of PICMG 2.30 PlusIO is a 32-bit system-slot SBC with a PowerPC MPC8548. The board is 100\% compatible with the current CompactPCI PICMG 2.0 standard and already uses the additional J2 pinout defined for PICMG 2.30 together with 3M's new high-speed connector.
The conduction-cooled variety (F50C) leads up to 3 Gigabit Ethernet, 4 USB and 2 SATA ports to the backplane. In addition, the signals from the FPGA are led to the rear J2 connector and can be used there for individual I/O functions.
The convection-cooled model (F50P) brings 1 Gigabit Ethernet, 4 USB and 2 SATA ports to the backplane, while an additional 2 Gigabit Ethernet and 2 USB channels are available at the front panel.
Both SBCs use the MPC8548 with clock frequencies of 800 MHz up to 1.5 GHz. They are equipped with 2 GB ECC DDR2 main memory, 16 GB SSD Flash memory for the application, and industrial FRAM and SRAM.
All components are firmly soldered against shock and vibration. The cards are also ready for coating against dust and humidity and can be used in a temperature range of -40 °C to +85 °C in a conduction-cooled environment. As I/O is normally connected exclusively via rear I/O in conductive cooling systems, both CompactPCI PlusIO (PICMG 2.30) and CompactPCI Plus (PICMG CPLUS.0) are perfectly equipped for such systems.
