White Paper: Scaling Medical Devices
Jennifer Zickel, Product Line Manager - COM Express
The use of medical imaging is expanding, driven particularly by the need
for patient-centric service at the point of care. A patient-centric approach
to healthcare drives the need for segmentation across use-cases, including
general diagnostic imaging, critical care, cardiology, vascular, emergency
care, intervention and women’s healthcare. This trend is decreasing the time
to diagnosis, improving diagnostic accuracy, and making state-of-the-art
imaging technologies more affordable and widely-used.
This diversity of platforms creates significant challenges for medical
equipment designers, particularly those who must employ different system
architectures in order to maximize performance for the high-end and minimize
product cost for the low-end.
