Wanted: Tolapai (EP80579) GbE driver for latest Linux Kernels

    Green Belt

I am looking for a Linux Driver for the Tolapai (EP80579) GbE NIC which works with the latest Linux Kernels (~2.6.31).

Any helpful information in that regard is appreciated.

      Two further ideas for far:

      * There should be a Tolapai GbE driver für 2.6.28 now, but I was not able to find it so far.

      * The Tolapia GbE NIC is said to be based on the e1000e NICs, but using the GCU für MII-related handling. Have people investigated porting the Tolapai GbE driver modifications (based on the e1000 driver) to the Linux upstream e1000(e) driver?

      Best Regards,

          Hi BenKai:

Welcome to the Intel® Embedded Community.

Since you are using Intel EP80579 (Tolapai), I want to make you aware of a special place to go with your technical questions.  The Intel e-Help desk is staffed by Intel representatives dedicated to answering embedded Intel® architecture product, design and development questions for select Intel processors, including EP80579.

The Intel e-Help desk is only available to registered private users.  Before you can access e-Help, you will first have to upgrade your community membership to private status.  Private account status also allows you to access special documents and tools at the Intel® Embedded Design Center.    Note that it usually takes a few days for the approval process, and it normally requires that your company has a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) with Intel.  If you are interested, Click here to go to your ‘My Account’ page and request registered private access.

In the meantime, let's see if someone in the community can help answer your question.

                Hi Bernard,

The latest kernel version we support with the GbE driver is 2.6.28.  You  could port this driver to any newer kernel release that you may want e.g. 2.6.31.

This driver is contained in the 1.0.3 Security Linux release which is available at www.intel.com/go/soc on the Tools & Software tab.  The title of the download is “Security Package for CentOS Linux*”

You will need to fill out download request form and wait for confirmation email before you can download the package.
